BCHS Course Requirements

The Michigan Merit Curriculum (MMC) is the State Mandated Required Curriculum for all students.  Although a guidance counselor can tailor a 4-year plan for a student, a typical four year plan looks similar to what is below:  (Courses in parenthesis represent different options).  Click on any math course to see the math flow chart.

**Senior year of math can be a math or math-related course.  Math-related courses include:  Accounting, Drafting, CAM CNC, or Personal Finance.

 

Every student must also fit into his or her four years: one semester of Lifetime Sports & Wellness, one semester of Health,  and one year of Visual, Performing, or Applied Art.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Each semester course is worth .5 credits.  

Credit Requirements:

Class of 2013:  23 Credits

Class of 2014 and beyond:  22 Credits

Within those credits, students need to have successfully completed the following courses DURING the four years in high school:4.0 credits of Math

4.0 credits in English

3.0 credits in Science

3.0 credits in Social Studies

.5 credits in PE (LSW)

.5 credits in Health

1.0 credits in visual, performing, or applied arts

 

Class of 2016+ must have completed 2 years of a world language .

 

Middle School courses exempt a student from taking certain courses, but the credits still need to be obtained.
