Dear Families and Community Members:
So much has transpired over the course of a week not only for BCPS, but also for our community, state, and country. We once again thank you for the support that you have shown this week. As you, we are constantly adapting and adjusting to daily changes.
Thank you for allowing us time to put plans in place regarding academic enrichment and getting food out to our families in need. In the weeks ahead the district leadership team and staff will monitor and update as needed. We will make adjustments and modify our plans for support in all areas.
The leadership team continues to work with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Kent Intermediate School District (KISD) and local, state, and national health agencies as decisions are made. There are still many unknowns of what will happen next. Questions remain about extension of the school year, state testing, and future BC events. As BCPS works closely with all agencies and decisions are made, we will keep you updated and informed.
BCPS continues to work on specifics, even with school not in session. Staff will update academic enrichment materials, clean all areas of the district, continue to focus on a successful bond proposal, and concentrate on areas that will keep the district moving forward when we return and into the future.
Although the district is officially closed, principals and central administration are working remotely. If there are specific questions or areas of need, please reach out through email. Also, continue to check our website for more details. We will update the FAQ’s, and we will let you know if there are any major changes through school messenger.
Most important, we miss the kids and hope they are healthy! We appreciate all that you as parents are doing. We are in this together and look forward to having all back when it is safe. Please stay healthy and take care of yourself and your family.
Kevin Macina, Ph.D. Superintendent
