Superintendent Kevin Macina

Dear Families and Community Members,

Welcome to Byron Center Public Schools. BCPS is one of the top school districts in Kent County, with a strong track record of academic achievement and growth. We are proud of our accomplishments and the value we bring to the Byron Center community.

Strong schools and strong communities go hand in hand. In Byron Center, we all share the common goals of a strong community, high-quality education and efficient operations. Education is the cornerstone of this community. It is why families and businesses choose to reside in Byron Center. Our community and schools work together to ensure students have access to high-quality programs and opportunities that prepare our young people for strong careers and bright futures.

We have an incredible leadership team, including our dedicated Board of Education members and administrators, all working earnestly to bring a whole child approach to the education of our children. The Byron Center School District believes all students should have the opportunity to explore and pursue their passions. We believe that success in school goes beyond test scores, and that is why we work closely with our staff and parents to provide an environment centered on the individual needs of every student. Byron Center Public Schools offers classes and programs beyond the basics, including AP courses, STEM classes, dual enrollment, orchestra, visual and performing arts, career exploration, alternative education and athletics.

As always, student safety is our top priority. We are committed to schools and programs that are safe, supportive and welcoming for ALL students. That is my promise. From enhanced security measures to additional mental health resources, we have taken strategic action to support students.

We inspire every student to grow by teaching critical thinking and real-world skills. We encourage every student to learn by using innovative teaching practices. We challenge every student to achieve by providing strong academic support and resources. We model our commitment to equity and excellence for all. By offering every child a safe, inclusive and engaging space to learn, students are able to find their passions and pursue their dreams.

It is my honor to be part of a community that is motivated, eager and committed to educational excellence. Excellence is not a single achievement; it is a dedicated, evolving focus on what our students need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

We are the Bulldogs! We are BC Strong!
